Instructions for using the new SuperSalon SMS Functionality
Effective January 1, 2011 a new SMS messaging system has been implemented.
Who is affected?
- I-Office: All users
- POS: Version 5.6.3 or greater
What are the benefits?
- Many of the messages are automated, saving staff time.
- SMS can be used to instantly communicate with your customers. It can provide the following:
- Electronic receipts, thank you's and theft control:
- "Thank you for visiting - Your total purchase was .XX"
- Reducing customer no-shows:
- Appointment confirmation and reminders.
- For walk-in salons where customers may be waiting outside the salon, let customers know that you are ready for them.
- Increasing customer returns and frequency:
- Time to get a haircut reminder (sends X days after last visit.)
- Sending promotional messages:
- Announce discounts and specials.
- Sending "happy birthday" messages
- And more...
- Electronic receipts, thank you's and theft control:
What is required?
- SuperSalon staff must setup an account for you and enable the functionality in one or more of your salons.
What is the cost?
- There is no charge for setup.
- SMS messages must be purchased in blocks of 1000 for $100. (10 cents each) Email sales@rogerspos.com to purchase.
Justifications
- A 10 cent SMS can be a very cost-effective way to bring a customer back in, or ensure they show up for an appointment. An employee making phone calls is more expensive. At $10 per hour, and employee would cost about 20 cents per minute loaded.
- By using the return visit reminder (reminds customers to come in 30+/- days after their last service) you may be able to increase visits per year. One additional $20 visit makes this feature very profitable.
- By building the relationship, you may help build retention and loyalty. Either translate into more revenue per customer.
Admin
Creating SMS Group
- SuperSalon staff enables SMS for you account, and selects the stores which will be active in this group. If you do not enable all of your locations initially, more can be enabled later.
POS
Enabling SMS & General Settings
- Go to the Setup Tab ⇒ Software Settings ⇒ SMS
- Click the X to enable.
- You will notice that you can enable and customize automated SMS messages here.

Enabling SMS for customers
SuperSalon only sends SMS messages to customers who are set to receive them. This is because customers should opt-in before being send SMS messages. We suggest that as customers come in, you suggest they opt in. If they opt in, select YES under Allow SMS.
- Go to the Manager Tab ⇒ Customers.
- Enter a customer name in the search field. Select the customer from the results list.
- On the "Allow SMS" option, select Yes.
- This customer will now receive automatic SMS messages.
